Stephen joined the firm in June, 2010 as the Chief Financial Officer. He is also the firm’s Bar Compliance Officer, which involves overseeing the firm’s strict adherence to the rules established by The Florida Bar. He graduated Flagler College in St. Augustine, FL in 1992 with dual degrees in Business Management and Accounting and a minor in Economics. In 1997, Stephen received his MBA in Accounting from the University of Phoenix and graduated with a 3.98 GPA. He is also designated as a Registered Tax Return Preparer by the Internal Revenue Service.
His primary focus is to assist the firm’s clients with a variety of financial issues relating to family law. These issues include, but are not limited to, estimating approximate values for client-owned companies, determining monthly gross income, researching values of marital assets, and assisting with the completion of financial affidavits. Divorce often presents a variety of complex financial situations which require extended research and increased scrutiny. Stephen’s involvement in this phase provides the firm’s clients with an increased level of accuracy and assurance with respect to financial information being reported. Stephen is a candidate member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and an associate member of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA). In addition, he is a member of the National Association of Tax Practitioners (NATP) as well as the Association of Registered Tax Return Preparers (ARTRP).
Stephen is also President of Chesney Consulting, LLC, which consults individuals and companies with respect to accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, and tax-related issues. In addition, he owns FUO Firearms Instruction, LLC, which teaches firearms safety and basic pistol shooting. He is married with three children, ages 21, 20, and 13.
